QUESTIONS:

What makes J. Lynn different from other eyelash extension salons?
At J. Lynn Beauty it is our top priority to keep your natural lashes healthy! Proper application is crucial in this process. Our staff is extensively trained and only are allowed to work on clients once they have completed our advanced certification course and meet all of J. Lynn’s standards for applying beautiful customized lash extensions.

What are semi-permanent eyelash extensions?
They are a single, naturally tapered, glossy synthetic lash attached to a single natural lash with a special adhesive.

What is the difference between the silk, mink and authentic mink?
100% Siberian Mink lashes are considered the "cream of the crop" in eyelash extensions. They are "butter soft" and look AMAZING. J. Lynn Beauty is very specific in only carrying 100% mink lashes that are from a cruelty free establishment. The hair is combed out of the animal, sanitized and treated so they are hypoallergenic.
Faux mink lashes and faux silk lashes are made from the same material, just with different coatings.
Faux mink have a semi-matte coating on them, resulting in a velvet look. Faux silk have a semi-gloss coating.
J. Lynn uses 100% mink, faux mink, and faux silk to create the best look for our clients.

How long do eyelash extensions last?
Natural lashes are constantly shedding and new ones are growing in their place.  Extensions will fall out along with your natural lash when it is at the end of its growth cycle.  As the new ones come in, they will need to have extensions applied to them.  With regular touch-ups your lash extensions can last indefinitely.

Do extensions hurt?
The procedure is painless and quite relaxing; most fall asleep during the appointment time. When properly applied you should not feel the extensions at all.  They are lightweight and feel completely natural.  If you do feel any discomfort while wearing them, please call immediately to have them checked.  Also call immediately if you experience any swelling, itchiness or redness on the eyelids.  You may be allergic to the adhesive and need to have the eyelash extensions removed.

Will eyelash extensions damage my natural lashes?
When PROPERLY applied, they will not harm your natural lashes.  When  IMPROPERLY applied, they may be clumpy and have several natural lashes stuck together with the extensions.  This can cause pain and irritation because of the different growth rates and stages of each lash. This can also cause damage to your natural lashes and cause premature lash loss and follicle damage.  Applying lashes that are too long and/or too heavy for your natural lash to support will also cause premature lash loss, as well as thinning of the natural lashes.
Proper isolation, adhesive amount, extension weight and length for each natural lash are key to a safe and comfortable lash extension application.

How long does the procedure take?
The initial appointment it will depend on how many lashes you have applied, but typically will take 2 hours and includes a consultation.  Fills typically take 60 to 90 minutes depending on the fill booked.

Can I curl them?
There is no need to curl them.  The extensions have a beautiful curl already.  Do not use a mechanical lash curler, tint or perm them. Metal eyelash curlers will break the bond of the extension to the natural lash and can also damage your natural lashes.

Can I wear mascara with them?
There really is no need to wear mascara.  The extensions will add length and volume to your lashes.  But if you must, you can wear mascara meant specifically for lash extensions on the tips of the extensions. This mascara is available for sale in our salon. Never use waterproof or extended-wear mascara on eyelash extensions.

Can I swim with them?
Yes, you can swim, exercise, sauna and spa in moderation. Excessive exposure to heat, steam and water may weaken the bond of the adhesive and cause some of the extensions to come off prematurely, or in some cases weaken the curl of the extensions.  Do not swim or sauna for 48 hours after application.  Avoid getting them wet for 24 hours after application. Prolonged exposure to chlorine from pools or hot tubs may reduce your retention.

How often do I need touch-ups?
With proper care and maintenance, touch-ups are needed every 2-4 weeks to replace the lashes that have shed.
What do I do if I want the eyelash extensions removed?
Do not pick or pull them off.  Do not attempt to remove them yourself.  You must have a trained professional remove them with a specially formulated adhesive remover. Pulling or picking the extensions off can result in the natural lash being pulled out or damaged.
